Privacy Policy

The short version

We do not sell your data. You can browse the whole map without an account; an account is only needed to earn karma for your contributions. We use your location only to show you street food stalls near you, and we keep the information we store to the minimum needed to run the map.

Accounts and sign-in

Signing in is optional and happens through Google. When you sign in we store your name, email address, profile picture URL and your contribution stats (karma) against your account so your contributions can be attributed to you. We never see or store your Google password.

You can also set a password from your profile to sign in with your email address instead. That password is stored and verified by our authentication provider (Supabase) using industry-standard hashing; it is never stored in our application database. Signing in with Google always remains available, so you cannot get locked out if you forget it.

Location data

When you allow location access, your device shares your approximate coordinates so the map can centre on your neighbourhood and sort stalls by distance. Location is used in your browser to query nearby stalls. We do not build a movement history of you, and you can use the map without granting location access — it will simply default to a city centre.

Information you provide

When you add a tapri, the stall details you submit (name, category, location, optional phone number and photos) become part of the public community map. Please do not submit personal information that you do not want shown publicly.

Check-ins you submit are recorded with your account (when signed in) and the coordinates you were standing at, so we can verify contributions near the stall and prevent abuse. These records are not shown publicly.

Local storage on your device

The app may store a small amount of data in your browser, such as stalls you added locally, so the experience stays consistent between visits. This data stays on your device and is not shared with us unless it is submitted to the map.

Analytics

We use privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. These metrics do not identify you personally.

Third-party services

We rely on Google for optional sign-in, Supabase to host our database and authentication, and map tile providers and hosting infrastructure to serve the app. These providers may process technical data such as your IP address to deliver content, in line with their own privacy policies.

Your choices

You can deny or revoke location access at any time in your browser settings, and you can clear locally stored data by clearing your browser storage for this site. You can sign out at any time from your profile.

To have your account and contribution history deleted, email us and we will remove it.
